January 2020 turned out to be very successful for car dealers. Thus, according to AUTO-Consulting, by the efforts of all operators it was possible to realize more than 7 thousand new passenger cars, which is 33% more than a year earlier. In two-digit “advantages”, almost all major automotive brands, which gives reason to count on a very successful year.
But the competition in January reached high degrees. So, leadership in the Ukrainian market in the first month was regained to Toyota, whose sales increased by 81%. Toyota has another victory. The Japanese brand has displaced from the position of the best-selling models of two competitors at once - Renault Duster and Kia Sportage. Now the status of the best-selling car in the Ukrainian market belongs to Toyota RAV4.
Renault was able to counter the onslaught of the Japanese sales growth of 29%, which was slightly below the market, but allowed to stay in the lead and go beyond 1000 cars sold. Actively stated its claim to leadership and Nissan. The Japanese brand increased sales in January by 25%, which allowed it to become No. 3 for the second month in a row.
Skoda sales also grew by 27%, which allowed Czech brand dealers to get around Kia. But the record for growth in the Top 10 in January was Peugeot. The French increased sales by almost 3 times and consistently occupied 4.6% of all sales. Significantly added to sales in January and Mitsubishi. Now the “diamonds” not only returned to the Top 10, but also outperformed many of the main competitors.
January was successful for Mercedes-Benz. The German brand not only regained its No. 1 status among premium brands, but also increased sales immediately by 53%. And the Mercedes-Benz GLE entered the Top 20 leaders in sales among models.
The beginning of the year is also developing successfully for Chinese brands. So, Chery has already reached decent sales volumes and increased sales by 66% last year. And the Haval brand added 7 times in sales right away. Sales of another Chinese brand, FAW, are also growing.
Such an optimistic beginning of the year allows car operators to build ambitious plans for the active business season of 2020. It seems that the market started according to the most optimistic scenario.
