Strikes in the Turkish auto plants made Renault to revise the investment plan

Renault may review investments in Turkey after the labor dispute, which led to the suspension of production at its Turkish branch of Oyak Renault. This was stated by the head of the Eurasian department of the French carmaker.

Tofaş and a division of Ford Ford Otosan, Oyak Renault and stopped because of a labor dispute and strike, which occurred a few weeks before the parliamentary elections on June 7.

Jean-Christophe Kugler from Renault, told journalists that Turkey is a market with high potential, which Renault has staked in the long term. The dispute has become a threat not only for Turkey, is the largest manufacturer of automotive components, but also for the global production.

Earlier, Minister of Industry Fikri Isik said he wanted to see the immediate resumption of work, and the workers' demands could be discussed at the existing facilities.
