Most importers refused to supply cars to the Crimea in the first months after the capture of the peninsula. According to the director VAAID Oleg Nazarenko, Ukrainian operators were willing to supply machines to the Crimea, but Russian customs border was closed, citing the fact that the machines can not be cleared. "Cars that come from Ukraine, won't be registered in Crimea" - told in an interview in June owner of UkrAVTO Tariel Vasadze.
Importers say that they don't break the contract with the dealer centers in Crimea, they expect settlement of the legal status of the peninsula.
Crimea is still Ukrainian territory, and therefore there can't be legal obstacles and sanctions against Ukrainian importers, which export to Crimea (with the exception of imports that can be considered as terrorist financing, or for Defense Industries came under Russian jurisdiction).
