Winterkorn says it will take time to replace Piech on Audi board

NECKARSULM, Germany (Reuters) - Audi Chairman Martin Winterkorn said it will take "a bit of time" to replace Ferdinand Piech on the carmaker's supervisory board.

Former Volkswagen Group Chairman Piech quit his Audi board role along with other VW Group posts last month after a public showdown with Winterkorn.

Piech had led VW for more than two decades first as CEO then as chairman. He was forced out after he criticized Winterkorn, who is CEO of VW Group as well as chairman of its Audi unit.

Winterkorn was backed by key VW stakeholders and labor representatives.

VW installed two of Piech's nieces, Louise Kiesling and Julia Kuhn-Piech, to the group board earlier this month after Piech and his wife Ursula resigned.
