French Renault SA, the third largest car manufacturer in Europe, increased operating profit in the first half to 25%, due to the strong demand for budget brand Dacia cars and reduce costs.
According to a press release, adjusted profit before tax and interest payments (operating profit) in January-June reached 729 million euros against 583 million euros in the same period last year.
Deliveries of cars and light commercial vehicles in January-June increased by 4.7% - to 1.37 million vehicles. Dacia sales in Europe jumped to 35%, while the realization of the Renault brand cars in the region rose by 14%.
