The best eco car was named

The organizers of the contest "Green Car of the Year" called the next winner of the first place at the Auto Show in Los Angeles. At this time, the top prize for the first time got an electric car hatchback BMW i3.

The jury of the competition organized by Green Car Journal, included TV presenter Jay Leno, president of Ocean Futures Society and son of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Jean-Michel, as well as several Green Car Journal editors and representatives of organizations involved in the development of environmentally friendly vehicles.

To win this year also claimed Audi A3 TDI, Chevrolet Impala Bi-Fuel, Honda Fit and Volkswagen Golf.

BMW i3 electric car was introduced in summer, 2013. The hatchback is built on an aluminum frame onto which the carbon fiber body shell and the outer panels of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. In the motion i3 gives 170-horsepower electric motor, combined with a single-stage transmission.
